Patrick Schouten

Patrick Schouten was born in 1968 in the Hague, the Netherlands and makes music because he loves it. He comes from a musical family. His father and uncles played in a marching band that was founded by his grandfather.
Greatly inspired and influenced by Vangelis, the keyboard is his favorite instrument. For a couple of years now Patrick has played keyboards in the band Lekker Belangrijk, where he started out as a sound technician. The band is now called The Netz.
Besides playing in the band he loves to create his own music, completely based on electronic instruments and emotions. He writes his music in the new age, easy listening and ambient styles.
Music to Patrick is a way of living. Patrick has founded KSK Productions with two friends, to create music for commercials, films, videos, games and other projects.

MUZIKANT

Ik ben en artiest die instrumentale muziek maakt. Op zich is dat niet bijzonder, maar dat beperkt me wel in de mogelijkheden om mijn muziek te promoten, denk ik.
Ik maak geen doorsnee pop muziek en zal dus middelen moeten vinden om de wereld op de hoogte te brengen van mijn muziek.

Ik ben een groot fan van Youtube. Vele muzikanten gebruiken dat ook om hun muziek te promoten.
Als ook ik me daar op zou willen wagen, dan moet ik dus een videoclip gaan maken. Daar ik muzikant ben en geen filmer is dat best een uitdaging. (Ik ben natuurlijk wel creatief genoeg, daar niet van)

FOTO'S

Uiteindelijk denk ik dat ik een mooie oplossing gevonden heb. Ik ga mijn eigen videoclips maken maar gebruik daar de hulp van anderen voor. Geen filmers maar fotografen. Ik ga dus video's maken die bestaan uit foto's die door anderen gemaakt zijn, maar door effecten in de video komen die foto's tot leven. En natuurlijk zal mijn eigen muziek gebruikt worden.
Op deze manier kan ik mijn muziek promoten, maar tevens het werk van de fotografen.

Daar ik zelf ook wel eens een foto maak en daardoor in contact gekomen ben met Zoom (www.Zoom.nl) heb ik op het algemene forum een oproep geplaatst waarbij ik aangaf op zoek te zijn naar onderwater- of diepzeefoto's
Meteen werd ik benaderd door Marianne Brouwer van www.MarianneBrouwer.com. Marianne maakt mooie onderwater foto's, puur uit hobby en wilde met mij dit avontuur wel aangaan.
Ik heb een aantal foto's van haar website geplukt en ben begonnen om daar een film van te maken. Dat betekende ook meteen leren werken met een filmprogramma, in mijn geval MAGIX Video deluxe Premium (http://www.magix.com/nl/video-deluxe/)

Het voorbeeld heb ik naar Marianne gestuurd en ze was zo onder de indruk wat er nog meer met haar foto's mogelijk was dat we snel een afspraak gepland hebben.
Marianne maakt foto's puur voor de hobby, maar nu ze de video gezien heeft gaat ze toch meer over haar foto's nadenken. We hebben dan ook afgesproken dat er meer video's gaan komen van Marianne haar werk.

Ik hoop uiteindelijk nog veel meer fotografen enthousiast te krijgen voor deze manier van promotie maken. Ik wil graag met ze samenwerken, en via KSK Productions (www.KSKproductions.nl) kan ik op die manier ook andere muzikanten met fotografen koppelen om zo mooie video's te maken.

Je hoeft niet van mijn muziek te houden om de video mooi te vinden, maar ik hoop toch dat je er van geniet:

an eBook about Arabella

This is a copy of a blog about a new Apple App I have written on the blog of my company KSK Producitons.

Once in a while you become part of something great, something new. Something that, if you look close enough, you can not understand why it was not created before!

Arabella, the eBook by RumdeeDum

This happened to us some months ago.
We where commissioned by Practical Music to create a song for a new App for the iPhone, iPod touch and the iPad. It is called an eBook. An electronic book for children with the title: "Princess Arabella wants to play". The story is about a little princess called Arabella who is bored and looks for ways to play in and around the palace.
Because this is a eBook, you can read the story on the screen, but also listen to the story. We got some pictures and some voice-over samples to get a feeling of the book. This always helps when creating a song. After same days we came up with a nice melody and send a demo version to Practical music. They where enthusiastic about it, and some days later we delivered the final version for them to work with.

So why do I particularity write about this?
Did you see the eBook? NO... well you should. It is fantastic. You can read the story, you can listen to it, you can interact with the screen. By using your fingers of turning and tilting the screen all sorts of things happen. Pictures are changing, sound effects are audible.
This whole concept is brilliant. Kids will love this and will enjoy reading en listening to funny stories. There will be more stories coming up and we will participate in creating the music for it.
